PhD Project in Multi‑messenger Astrophysics

We invite applicants for a PhD fellowship in Particle Astrophysics at the Niels Bohr International Academy, Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. Start date: 01.10.2026 or soon thereafter.

The project

We seek highly motivated, outstanding individuals eager to join an ambitious research program at the intersection of high‑energy particle astrophysics, transient astrophysics, and multi‑messenger astrophysics.

Who are we looking for?
  • Specialization in high‑energy theory and mathematical physics, together with expertise in computational astrophysics, stellar nuclear reaction chains, and hydrodynamic simulations of stellar explosions.
  • Curious mindset with strong interest in computational astrophysics.
  • Excellent English skills.
Our group and research

The Particle Astrophysics group pushes the frontiers of knowledge on the universe’s most energetic and extreme events. We reveal the physics at the smallest scales in astrophysical objects, decode cosmic explosions, and link them to neutrino, electromagnetic, and gravitational‑wave signals. We offer a creative, stimulating working environment in a dynamic, international research setting.
