Job Description

Then this is a unique temporary opportunity to bring your math, physics and geometry understanding, robust design ability and ability to transfer this core knowledge into LEGO bricks' design and functionality, so that we together can successfully deliver faster, stronger and better pioneering play experiences to kids and adults worldwide

Core Responsibilities
In this 6-month temporary Stilling, you will join the Exploration Engineering team developing the future capabilities to ensure a high level of controllability in LEGO element (bricks) development while raising the quality level and Første Time Through (FTT) approval. More specifically, you will:
Redesign the current standard LEGO connector matrix (clutch ability) with a math and physics approach ensuring a high level of controllability in product development, while improving the quality and FTT approval.
Create connector designs with predictable performance on functional measurements to lower variance sensitivity.
Transfer complex geometry development to new simplified standards making it easily applicable for element developers to be utilized in an industrialized value chain setup.
Ensure a high level of innovation in technical solutions applying solid business understanding.
Deliver CAD files and specifications covering new complex LEGO elements.
Adhere to fully objective and quantifiable criteria through maths, physics and geometry.
Become a strong change agent and ambassador for new ways of working within element development and moulding technologies.

In the Novelty Element Development (NED) department, we develop the LEGO novelty elements of tomorrow by maturing the element design into manufacturable LEGO bricks ready for mass production.
As part of NED, the Exploration Engineering team manages a higher degree of complex engineering by working closely with key stakeholders across LEGO Engineering and Operations from early ideation phase to startup production. Furthermore, we experiment and evaluate and thereby establish organizational learnings to be applied across LEGO Engineering value chain in the future. The team, consisting of nine specialists, acts as capability builders being the forefront whenever new moulding technologies are developed.
Do you have what it takes?
The ideal candidate has at minimum a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics and Technology or equivalent. You bring proven experience with robust design principles, plastic materials, mechanics or moulding technologies. In addition, you have:
Solid capabilities in geometry, math, physics, material properties and implications being able to apply that into early-stage design processes.
Proven kinematic design and design clarity understanding to sketch robust design geometry with clear intent and degree of freedom avoiding overconstrained mechanism or ambiguity.
Ability to identify and evaluate design parameters through a Design of Experiments approach (DOE).
Knowledge and experience with MathCAD and 3D CAD design is an advantage.
Proven analytical competencies within data management and execution of data-driven performance.
Great communication, collaboration and capability-building skills, being able to establish positive relationships with stakeholders and colleagues while seeking and challenging strong technical solutions.
Proficient in English both written and verbal.
